Yes, our site did go down for a little over a day.
We were sure that everything was failsafe with as many backups as we had. However, we were wrong and have remedied this.
It was confirmed by an independent contract systems administrator that the issue was with our calendar, which has since been disabled until we can have it repaired.
There's no need to worry as no user information was compromised in the attack—what little we do collect (email address and birthday to comply with age laws).
Measures are being taken so that we can be up and running again much quicker in the instance there is a heavy attack aimed at us or that we are caught in the crossfire of another attack again.
