THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES "CEE-MENT POND" meets a MOUNTAIN RIVER up near OKUMA!
Here's a MAP of where you're headed (pin below):
Did I just mention the URA RIVER for KIDS in another post? Well, FORGET THAT PLACE (Haha). I've got something else for ya'!! ?
A HIDDEN GEM ALONG THE TAKAZATO RIVER
Only 3 Miles / 5 Kilometers from Okuma Rest Center's Main Gate, you can WALK, RUN, BIKE, or HIKE your way there --- flat out all the way. Or, pile the kids in the car, and zip right over there, just minutes away!
This time, I'll try to keep it short and let the pictures do the talking. Once again, we have a few families taking a break from the salt-water sun and fun of OKUMA BEACH, by having a quick dip the "Cement Pond" at the base of TAKAZATO DAM.
The "Cement Pond" is about 4 feet deep, and comes with its own man-made waterfall (the Dam) during times of steady rain.
This pool is great for adults and teens who want to do some real laps, play games, or just mess around in the constantly flowing, fresh mountain waters that flow down the Takazato River Valley.
For the little kids, there's the lower wading pool, stepping stones, and the inclined "rock ramp" up the main pool where they can "climb the rapids" under adult supervision.
A fish-ladder (for fish, not people) can be examined on the far side of the river. Just another thing to make your time there more interesting.
The grassy parking area can handle several cars, and you may picnic and camp there as well.
Stay as long (or as short) as you like, and head back to civilization when you've had enough!
Cheers!
