Okinawa.Org is more than just a forum where discussion can take place and content be posted to—it's a business directory to find things to do in Okinawa where questions and reviews can be posted for each Place; a blog where discourse can happen through comments; an event calendar where questions about the event can be posted; classifieds where one can buy/sell/trade as well as look for jobs in Okinawa; and a media gallery that hosts high-resolution photos where comments can be made. Each section has its own set of rules; though, one section may apply to another under "General Rules".
General Rules
If you have any suggestions as to what rules should be implemented, or which to be disputed, be it on the forum or across the entire site, post it in the Comments and Feedback forum. If you need clarification of any rule, either contact a staff member directly or utilize the Contact Okinawa.Org Support forum (with the latter being the preferred method so we are all notified at once).
This post will be updated when rules are created or modified. We will not give official warnings for the first violations of any rule, which can lead to a ban until this post is read to clarify. You can see when the rules were modified in the bottom right-hand corner of this post.
General Rules
- Okinawa.Org is a platform that is home to free speech and no censorship. We want everyone to feel safe, but personal attacks—which can't be clearly defined—that are used in a heated discussion are protected under this clause for as long as it's not using offensive terminology against a non/protected class that is direct in nature.
- Example: Derogatory/racial words used freely or in a personal attack.
- No insinuated threats of violence, extending to words that can be read in a threatening way when putting into context.
- Example: "Let's take this out back."
- Stay on topic! If a thread is about apples, do not post about oranges unless it's somehow in relation to apples and a comparison can be made. Otherwise, create a new thread for another discussion.
- Example: "Apples are delicious" → "Oranges feel weird"
- Example: "Apples are delicious" → "They are delicious and healthy and go well with grapes too!"
- No tasteless nudity posted outside of a hidden personal album.
- Example: No porn but works of art is acceptable if it is hidden in a personal album.
