Question Looking for a family or other to stay with

Hello @ Okinawa.org, we are a family of five who want to visit Okinawa for a month or two. We will be on a sabatical year that will lead us to the US, Canada and Japan. I am looking for contacts on Okinawa. Might be a family who is interested in having kids for company to their children, can be home sitting, can be a farm or organisation who is looking for helping hands. Both us parents are highly qualified, the three girls are kind and respectful - any information is welcome, if interested to visit our place you are welcome. That's a tough request. You might check out any family guest houses. They have them in Nara, mainland Japan. It's a very nice one and check out the one they have in Kyoto. Everyone that I know of these days are hurting financially a bit, so it could be a tough situation you might run into.
If you have international driver's license it might be worth a check to rent a car and do some family camping. It just isn't cheap to do anything anymore. Good luck. If you have Church connection is Okinawa, that too would help. I know the Mormon Church is located there.

Thank you for yr kind reply w/ proposals. We (parents) cycled Japan twice, so camping is an option. There is WWOOF Japan - Home where we might have a good chance - but most hosts do not speak any foreign language and learning japanese .... I actually hope that somebody from the US military would drop a note here. or maybe you know of such a forum where I can put my "tough request" on?

You might try Okinawa Hai or Okinawa Yard Sales.
Both have a large following of military personnel.
