The name is Yui Rail (Monorail) Museum, but don't let that fool you! The two-story museum is packed with 400 different items on display, some of the construction of the monorail to even the old railways in Okinawa. It's free to enter, open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and something to do on a rainy day in Okinawa. You can access it by following the map in the "location" box below, but the parking lot is somewhat confusing to know exactly which building it is. Follow...
If you want to get away from it all and relax with tranquility all around you while being able to see breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, the Kakinohana Hija Spring in Nanjo is the perfect place to go for the morning or afternoon, alone or with guests. To access the spring, it is somewhat difficult to spot while driving to the location shown in the map below, even though there's a sign. That's because there's only a narrow entrance between a house and shrubbery leading to a wider...

As you can probably name a lot of things that you would like to do at a beach, finding the beach that allows you to do all of the things you want to do could be just a little difficult. Let's say, you'd love to go for a swim in the water and what you'd want after you get your feet back on the sand is a cold beer that doesn't get warm quickly under the sun. Or, you want to try snorkeling for the first time and need assistance. Or this time, perhaps you can't even get in the water because...

Going on a shopping spree; saving money at the 100 yen store; trying new foods and exotic fruit drinks; getting brain freeze with roll ice cream; oh, and finishing that overdue term paper at the library—all things you can do at the Naha Bus Terminal! While from the outside, this may appear to be an ordinary old bus terminal with buses coming and going. Though once you enter, you will find out there's much more than meets the eye and you can actually have a pretty great time here, by...

A frequently asked question amongst people on Okinawa Questions pages and those interested in coming here is where to find a great camping spot on the beach. Okinawa, being an island, has a lot of coastlines. Because of that, there are plenty of areas to set up camp. However, some of those areas, such as Hippie Beach, require special permission from the city to pitch a tent. Furthermore, some areas of Okinawa aren't the best for camping for various reasons either. That's not the case...
If you're into history and want to learn more about the Battle of Okinawa and what the Okinawans experienced, a visit to Todoroki Trench in Itoman is a must. The Todoroki Trench, also known by locals as Tohruruchi or Tohrurushi, is a long underground limestone cavern—or a Gama—that was naturally carved out by water and stretches east to west. In March of 1945 when the U.S. air raids began, the people of what is now Itoman City fled to the cavern to take refuge. Sometime around June 7...
